Born and raised in South Africa, Glen has always had a passion for outdoor activities and travel. From traveling offroad to volunteering at a National Park, he has always felt most comfortable out of most peoples’ comfort zone.
After doing an intensive 5 week sailing course on the East Coast of South Africa, he bought a sailboat and headed west. After two years of cruising, including a Trans-Atlantic crossing, Glen and his wife settled in Charleston, SC.
During a 27-year period there, he acquired a 100 Ton Masters license, Towing endorsement and Auxiliary Sail endorsement. He also got his diving certification, adding another dimension to his marine knowledge. Aside from towing, Glen also did deliveries, some teaching, charters, and worked as a yacht broker for the local Catalina, Island Packet and Bavaria dealer. After a few years they also became Mainship dealers. He has also worked most recently for one of the larger S Florida brokerages that had opened an office in Charleston and invited him to join the group.
Glen has raced for almost 20 years, initially on a J-125, then a Beneteau 47.7 First, and most recently on an Xp-44.
His primary focus is to match the right boat for his clients, and his hope is that they will gain as much from the experience on the water as he has.
